ENCORE #1 at Kaaistudios

6 and 7 March 2026, Kaaistudios. First edition of ENCORE, hosted by Kaaitheater.

Part of the festival took place in the theatre garage. This choice is deliberate. For many disabled people, the main entrance is not the one they use. They pass through technical access points, through the back, through the sides. To occupy the garage is to reverse the logic. What is relegated becomes central.

The space was activated by a coffee bar conceived as an installation, run by Laur, Gill and Henri. The barista installation was designed specifically for wheelchair users.

Programme. Lucy Wilke and Paweł Duduś, with live music by Kim_Twiddle, in an intimate portrait in seven chapters. A selection of CRIP zines by Loraine Furter, with two collective reading moments. Sound and video installations by Mira Thompson. Two open-access video lessons by Mira Thompson and Carly Everaert, On Access Intimacy and On Pain Worth Sharing. CREAM and COME AS YOU ARE by photographer Laetitia Bica. Stephanie Comella on Zebrafish Neuro and nervous-system-focused training. ADAF, A Domestic Art Fair. A talk between Maria Dogahe and Moussa Cheniguel on the programming and the choice of the garage.

Around 280 people took part over the two days, including 100 tickets sold for the Saturday evening performance.
